As part of the narrative jewelry school, Mary Hayslip brought a fresh wind into Artwear, with her Southern style attitude with a touch of VooDoo. Her beaded one of a kind single earrings were so “on trend” with the spirit of the times. Mary was one of the artists featured in a 1984 Spirit Show and I fell in love with her work, thus she is a part of my archive gallery. This most splendid little bit of beadwork using silverish beads is a fun bit of soft punk. Silver Dagger, a classic American folksong sung by Joan Baez in the 1960’s is the symbol of scorned love and perhaps voo doo mischief.
