Robert Lee Morris Petite Rhodium Plated Silver Dart Necklace

The Robert Lee Morris Petite Rhodium Plated Dart Necklace is a dramatic vintage piece from the early 1980’s. The design is based on the feathers of a throwing dart. This is an architectural form that is four sides tapered to a point and Morris found that it was a building block for an entire new collection. The darts could be linked together with riveted pins that allowed for a flexible chain to be built. The fact that the four sides were flat and polished created a sparkle effect that turned this group into a successful diamond like appearance. In all the various sizes and materials, the Dart collection became very popular as earrings, bracelets and short to long necklaces. This piece is very unique and one of a kind in that it is rhodium plated silver and high polish which makes it look like diamonds. Rhodium plating is extremely expensive is a slightly different color than silver but never tarnishes, and rarely used in fashion jewelry.
