Cara Croninger was the pioneer of resin jewelry in the New York fashion scene. From the early years of 1976, she began to collaborate with Geoffrey Beene making wide belts with resin closures, and bold beaded necklaces in colors and textures never before seen. Her bangles cuffs and earrings were the bright color and feeling that was so in demand by the fashion editors in the early and mid 19780’s. I met Cara through Sculpture to Wear, the art jewelry gallery in the Plaza Hotel that represent my work. She was also one of the few unknown names in art jewelry that was found in that famous shop. (Calder, Picasso, Arp, Braque, etc here all represented in Sculpture to Wear.)
This is a set of two stacking bangles, that look like they are made from an unknown material, whose origin might be from off-planet. Butterscotch and mottled chalky, creamy beige coloring make this pouring very unique. Each of her pouring birthed new collections all related by the color system she chose.
