In 1993 I was approached by the owners of the luxury company in Spain called LOEWE. I had recently ended by long collaboration with Donna Karan and was ready to try working with a new fashion giant. Loewe was in the midst of re-defining its direction and wanted me to design jewelry for their new clothing line, and especially handbag hardware for their very lucrative soft Napa leather handbags. I spent much time in Spain, Italy and Majorca learning the DNA of Loewe, and this jewelry reveals the bold Spanish flavored look that I came upon with at that time.
This bold gold plated brass necklace is just as classic as it gets. The two carved triangular stations that hold the 5 rows of chain are meant to sit high on the neck, just filling in the neckline for a suit jacket or cashmere sweater. The large rolo chain is luscious and rich. Never to go out of style.
