Robert Lee Morris Brass Fishtail Pendant Necklace

This Robert Lee Morris Brass Fishtail PendansNecklace is from 1982 when Morris began his collaboration with the Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto. Many fish themes were referenced in the runway jewelry Morris did for Kansai based on the Japanese love of seafood. This is a casting of a carved Carp tail, and it hangs from a necklace of silver and bauxite beads. Morris loved to use Bauxite beads as their color was a reddish brown and very warm and comforting. Bauxite is the mineral from which aluminum comes. It is a popular trading bead in Africa. Mixed into the necklace are large irregular ancient excavated quartz stones, also from Africa.All in all, this is a rare Morris necklace from the archives.
