Robert Lee Morris Brass Sculpture # 104, Vermillion Short Stack

Robert Lee Morris Brass Sculpture # 104, Vermillion Short Stack, is a simple but arrestingly strong artwork for the home. The “Stack” name applies to all the sculptures that Morris makes whereby metal discs are threaded onto a metal pole, separated by various lengths of brass tubing. The effect is a bit similar to a strand of Eucalyptus plant, where round leaves are spaced along a vine. This piece is part of a series of small sculptures meant to be shown alone or in groupings with similar stacks as seen in the gallery photos. Morris is now experimenting with the addition of accent colors of white or vermillion and in this piece only the tops of the discs are colored while the underside is left as shiny brass, causing a beautiful reflection of colors. the base is a cube of lucite providing the weight and strength to secure this plant like work of art.
