Robert Lee Morris Gold Plated Caterpillar Choker Necklace

This vintage Robert Lee Morris Gold Plated Caterpillar Choker Necklace is so slinky and playful. Liquid Geometry is what Morris calls his organic fluid work, making metal jewelry fall softly around the human body like it was part of it. This short necklace at 14.5″ is for a small neck. Most of his active carer, Morris was very often around tall thin models and used their general measurements for his jewelry. This is a choker, sitting at the base of the neck in the most dramatic way. The link lanky nature of this piece is so much fun to wear. Looking at the backside of the piece one can see how by using smaller jump rings at the top than the larger ones at the bottom made the necklace lie in a natural curve. Each casting is a beveled sharp dome, or mound of metal, which creates the look of all the pieces leaning forward as they race around the neck.
