This Robert Lee Morris Gold Plated Floral Composition Pin is part of a large themed group created in the late 1980’s called The Garden. These flower and vegetation pins were also used as the hardware on the new handbag collection that Morris launched in 1988. The handbags were primarily soft black Napa leather, with signature iconic matte gold plated hardware, and the collection was sold initially through Saks Fifth Avenue. All these pins/hardware designs, were carved from wax by Morris himself, displaying a unique style that is bold and spontaneous. This pin is a very sophisticated composition of branches, flowers and one long leaf, in an unusual angled form. Inspired by Rene Lalique for sure!
