This Robert Lee Morris Gold Plated Hybrid Flower Pin is part of a large themed group created in the late 1980’s called The Garden. These flower and vegetation pins were also used as the hardware on the new handbag collection that Morris launched in 1988. The handbags were primarily soft black Napa leather, with signature iconic matte gold plated hardware, and the collection was sold initially through Saks Fifth Avenue. All these pins/hardware designs, were carved from wax by Morris himself, displaying a unique style that is bold and spontaneous. What a glorious mixup of flower parts into this unique hybrid piece. Using inspirations from Dogwoods, Magnolias, and Lily, Morris concocted his very own flower, and a bold powerful flower it is. This is the kind of statement pin that will knock people’s socks off who see it. Note the exaggerated stamens erupting out of the center of the flower, at 2″ high.
