Robert Lee Morris Gold Plated Short Leaf Pin

This leaf  pin is part of a large themed group created in the late 1980’s called The Garden. These flower and vegetation pins were also used as the hardware on the new handbag collection that Morris launched in 1988. The handbags were primarily soft black Napa leather, with signature iconic matte gold plated hardware, and the collection was sold initially through Saks Fifth Avenue. All these pins/hardware designs, were carved from wax by Morris himself, displaying a unique style that is bold and spontaneous. What an elegant and simple form, the slightly arched leaf, with the slightly wobbly carving technique, and the rich gold color makes this a beautiful object to wear and look at. It is up to the imagination of the wearer as to how many ways it can be worn.
