Robert Lee Morris Iconic 10″ diameter  Discs Sculptures are the sheer essence of the entire Robert Lee Morris Brand. Since he created his first one in 1974, he has learned to develop form with more volume. He invented a simple technique of soldering a wire shape onto a flat piece of brass sheet and transforming it through forging into a sensual organic shape. The disc was first an earring, whereby the edge was thick and undulating while a convex bubble rose out of the middle creating a skin of stretched metal. It was alive. In every size and permutation, the disc has become the Alpha shape that became the foundation of the entire Morris vocabulary.

The sculptures came alive when Donna Karan grabbed one of Morris’s pendant discs and put it on a little sculpture stand (all this in the design studio of DK) and asked Morris to do this bigger. Donna wanted huge Morris Discs in gold to hang in the windows of her Madison Ave store in 2010. This was the beginning of the Morris sculpture launch. The sculptures are listed here diameter / price.
