Robert Lee Morris Large Gunmetal Egg Necklace

This Robert Lee Morris Large Gunmetal Egg Necklace, is part of the Egg series which preceded the Pebble collection in the mid 1980’s. Moving away from the architectural direction in the early 1980’s, Morris pursued the Egg form. Here is a spectacular short necklace that packs a visual punch! The eggs were hollow castings from wax carvings, joined with a rivet system underneath, and then the brass was electro plated with a luscious metallic gunmetal coating. This finish was very avant-garde and popular in the constructivist time of the early 80’s in fashion. As usual, this design was bold and powerful while also being classic and forever modern.
