Robert Lee Morris Segmented Bowl Bracelet 1982

This rare vintage Robert Lee Morris Segmented Bowl Bracelet from 1982 shows the process by which Morris was discovering how to expand his vocabulary of forms. He had created a series of hollow formed bangles, using sheet and wire, and forging the bombay shapes in a sand bag, obsessed with creating volume and scale without the weight. Then once that was done he began to cut thee forms up into many slices and rejoin them into fluid flexible bracelets. Early investigations like this is what made Morris able to produce so many new and exciting iconic designs ins such a short period of time.
