Robert Lee Morris Copper, Gold, and Verdigris Large Disc Necklace

This one of a kind spectacular Wabi Sabi Robert Lee Morris Vintage Copper, Gold, and Verdigris Large Disc Belt/Necklace was created fro the Calvin Klein Fall show in 1981. It was this collection that gave Morris his Coty award and brought massive and sudden recognition to the young designer. The color range of this jewelry collection was such a breakthrough in fashion jewelry, matching the colors in the fabrics of the CK clothing.Using heat to oxidize his copper, giving it a rich ruddy red permanent finish and mixing in the occasional matte gold-plate or turquoise verdigris discs into the linked belt/necklace. Worn both as a belt or across the body the editors and the public went crazy for this look and were instrumental in launching Morris as a new star in fashion. It was in this historical fall collection shown by an exploding star, a young Calvin Klein that the iconic Morris disc was born to the mainstream audience. The disc design is so simple and organic that thousands of disc earrings sold across the country for decades later.
