Eric Rhein exhibited his fantasy jewelry in the mid 1980’s at Artwear. Like nothing I had ever seen in all my travels, I loved how “out there ” it was, akin to ancient Japanese doll making arts, magical in every way. This collar must have been made around Independence day as there is also a matching pair of earrings that boggle my mind. I had to have them for my private collection. So sensitive and fragile, evoking emotional reactions, his work was ground breaking in every way. A poet of jewelry.
