WOW, when Gloria brought this amazing piece into the gallery in the mid 1980’s, mouths fell open, jaws dropped. This was over the top couture jewelry for fashion. Created with a wide range of materials, including tree lichen, wood, pearls, glass beads, gold leafed fabric, possibly paper mache’ leaves, this is a huge but wearable necklace. It was because of the rampant creativity of such artists as Gloria Lomas that Artwear drew such a large and constant crowd for over 17 years. Gloria was Cuban American, and had large stature, big presence. She made jewelry for her body, for her personality, which was exuberant!
