Robert Lee Morris Brass Sculpture #102, Small Graduated Stack is a simple but arrestinglyvibrant artwork for the home. The “Stack” name applies to all the sculptures that Morris makes whereby metal discs are threaded onto a metal pole, separated by various lengths of brass tubing. The effect is a bit similar to a strand of Eucalyptus plant, where round leaves are spaced along a vine. This piece is part of a series of small sculptures meant to be shown alone or in groupings with similar stacks as seen in the gallery photos. The color accent of vermillion tubings add a new feature to the contemporary sculpture work that Morris is currently making. In some cases he uses a white color accent to offset the brass. Sitting in a cube of clear lucite, the tower is 18″ tall with discs measuring from 2″-5″ in diameter. There is a light, whimsical nature to this piece, like a poem or happy song.
