This Robert Lee Morris Gold Plated Leaves & Branch Pin is part of a large themed group created in the late 1980’s called The Garden. These flower and vegetation pins were also used as the hardware on the new handbag collection that Morris launched in 1988. The handbags were primarily soft black Napa leather, with signature iconic matte gold plated hardware, and the collection was sold initially through Saks Fifth Avenue. All these pins/hardware designs, were carved from wax by Morris himself, displaying a unique style that is bold and spontaneous. Inspired at a young age by the drawings and compositions of Rene Lalique, this particular pin has the similar kind of sophisticated touch of Lalique. The twining long leaves, and the gnarly branch are nearly melancholic.
