Robert Lee Morris Large Hematite Dart Necklace

The Robert Lee Morris Large Hematite Dart Necklace is a dramatic vintage piece from the early 1980’s. The design is based on the feathers of a throwing dart. This is an architectural form that is four sides tapered to a point and Morris found that it was a building block for an entire new collection. The darts could be linked together with riveted pins that allowed for a flexible chain to be built. The fact that the four sides were flat and polished created a sparkle effect that turned this group into a successful diamond like appearance. In all the various sizes and materials, the Dart collection became very popular as earrings, bracelets and short to long necklaces. The stunning shiny hematite (or gunmetal) finish is an electroplating that is so futuristic and sleek, modern and avant-garde. It is included in all the categories of finishes here as it is like a gold plating, a silver finish and is dark like Wabi Sabi!
